QUOTE: To be purposeful is to be thoughtful. To be thoughtful is to be successful.

SCRIPTURE: “What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied. 2Kings 4:2 (NLT)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: What you have may be limited in potential in your own sight until God takes it over.

TODAY’S MESSAGE:

Our anchor scripture is about the story of the widow of a late son of the Prophet.

This was a woman whose husband, I believe, failed to practice the covenant as written in Deuteronomy 15:6 (…and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow…). Consequently, he ended up in debt and left liabilities for his family in his passing.

In fact, to add to his anti-covenant practice, he used his two sons as collateral for the debt he owed, and the creditors came to take the children as bondmen in settlement of the debt. It was at this point the woman cried out to prophet Elisha for help.

Prophet Elisha asked her a question that brought a total turnaround in her life and preserved her sons.

Today, we shall X-ray some key thoughts on that solution-giving question – WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN THE HOUSE?

Now, what are the key thoughts on the question?

Everyone has something in the house.

Everyone has something valuable in them. The meaning is, there is no empty human being on the face of the earth. Someone may say, “But the question is about a house.” Yes! we are God’s Temple (2 Corinthians 6:19).

We are God’s House. And prophet Elisha was saying in essence that every single house has got something inside of them.

Beloved, maybe the devil has lied to you that everyone is gifted but you are not. Calm down! There is something in you. You are loaded.

Until what is in your house is revealed, most times, it cannot be discerned and deployed.

There was something in the house that the prophet’s widow never knew was useful until it was pointed out.
Another good example was Moses. Moses had a rod in his hand. He never knew that there’s something in that rod.

He did not know the implication of that rod until it was revealed (Exodus 4:2-4). Most times, tears and struggles continue until what is in the house is revealed.

Beloved, God will reveal his deposits in your life that will cause drastic impact and change in your generation.

What you have may look like nothing until God takes it over. What you have may be limited in potential in your own sight until God takes it over.

For example, five loaves and two fish were taken over by the Master and their potential exploded (John 6:1-13). Similarly, when the oil was taken over by the mantle on Elisha’s life, the potential also exploded (2Kings 4:1-7).

Beloved, even if what is in your hands appears like nothing, allow God to take over and the outcome will beat your imagination.

Maybe you even think you are nothing; remember that God is a specialist in turning nothings into something. He is a specialist in turning non-entities into some entities.

Remember this: What you have may be limited in potential in your own sight until God takes it over.
