QUOTE: Your gift or potential is your vehicle to prominence.

SCRIPTURE: And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
1Samuel 16:12-13

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is a special anointing reserved for the rejected.

TODAY’S MESSAGE:

The life of David mirrored to us the possibility of making generational impact despite contrary human opinions or verdicts. David was a man of extraordinary excellence in many areas, despite his unfavourable background.

While some people excel in a particular field, David’s accomplishments spanned multiple domains.

David excelled as a shepherd, musician, singer, worshipper, songwriter, inventor of music equipment, hunter, military general, war hero, giant killer, leader, people developer, king and priest.

He was someone who could take vagabonds and turn them into captains. David was a reference king in Israel.

David excelled in almost eleven areas. The question is, how was it possible for one man in a single lifetime to be so outstanding? And when you look at his background, there was nothing so special about him that qualified him for anything extraordinary.

When Samuel was sent by God to the house of Jesse in First Samuel Chapter 16, God told him, “Go to the house of Jesse and anoint for me a king among his sons.” Samuel came and told Jesse, “Bring all your sons because God sent me here.” Jesse brought seven of his sons, but he did not bring the eighth son, David.

And when none of the seven met the requirement for the anointing, Samuel asked Jesse, “Are all these your sons?” Jesse said, “No, there is another one, but you said you were looking for a king, that one does not fit in.

He doesn’t have the qualification to be king. He is at the back side of the desert keeping sheep.” (1Samuel 16:3-12 Paraphrased).

You see, David was abandoned, forgotten, disconnected, dislocated, ostracized, but God said, “That is the one I’m looking for.”

Beloved, in the eyes of men, you may not be qualified; you may not look like you are going to amount to anything, but God sees something in you that others don’t see. You may have been rejected, but there is a special anointing reserved for the rejected.

Can you imagine that in a whole family, there was not one person who could speak for David and say, “Father, what of David?” No brother, no sister, no friend, no father, no mother was on his side; only God was on his side.

And the Scripture says in Romans 8:31, If God be for us, who can be against us? It does not matter who is against you, if God is by your side, you can face any devil. You can surmount any obstacle. You can counter any resistance.

Beloved, how do you excel out of the wilderness? How do you move from where you are to the palace? Refuse to focus on what is against you.

What is against you and who is against you cannot stop you if you are not against yourself. And if you wait for everything in your life to be perfect before you take steps, you will never succeed.

Every problem is a distraction from your destination. And if you face your distraction, you will miss your destination and distinction.

REMEMBER THIS: There is a special anointing reserved for the rejected.
